Short-Cut vs Long-Cut Vale Tudo Shorts
New to this style? Read what Vale Tudo shorts are for an introduction to fit and training use.
The main difference is leg coverage. Short-cut Vale Tudo shorts have a shorter leg; long-cut styles extend further down the thigh. Choose the coverage you prefer, then use the individual product’s size guide to select your fit.
Compare the cuts
| Feature | Short cut | Long cut |
|---|---|---|
| Leg coverage | Less thigh coverage | More thigh coverage |
| Fit | Close compression fit | Close compression fit |
| Designs | Assault, Guardian and Rampage | Assault, Guardian and Rampage |
Which should you choose?
Choose short cut if you prefer less fabric coverage on your thighs. Choose long cut if you prefer the leg to extend further down the thigh. Neither cut is automatically better for BJJ, MMA or no-gi grappling: your preferred coverage and how the garment fits matter more.
Get the fit right
- Open the size guide on the product you want and follow its measurement instructions.
- Choose your size from that guide rather than relying only on your usual clothing size.
- Check that the waistband and legs feel secure without restricting your movement. If you are unsure between sizes, contact us with the product name and your measurements.
A longer cut does not mean a larger size. Leg length and garment size are separate choices.
Before competition
Check your organiser’s current uniform rules before buying for an event. Do not assume every cut, colourway or garment is eligible for every division.
